More Radar Speed Limit Signs Coming to Evanston

Program will add 20 signs checking for speed in Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL - The city is likely to see an influx of radar speed limit signs soon.

The Evanston City Council is expected to approve a partial match of funds Monday night to bring 20 of the signs to Evanston via a federal safe routes to school grant, according to Evanston Now. Eighty percent of the $110,000 program will be paid for through the grant, with the city covering the other 20 percent of the cost.

A map shows “solar speed” signs expected to be installed come November at locations on Central Street, Oakton Street, Ridge Avenue, McCormick Boulevard and elsewhere in the city.
