Mosquito Spraying In Evanston, Skokie
The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District announced the locations of Tuesday's targeted spraying operations.

EVANSTON, IL — The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District announced it will be carrying out targeted adult mosquito control operations in parts of Evanston and Skokie Tuesday. The operations will take place between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., weather permitting.
Glencoe last week became the 12th North Shore municipality to test positive for West Nile virus when a batch of mosquitoes collected last Wednesday tested positive in the lab on Friday. You can find out how many positive batches have been detected compared to how many samples have been collected in each northern Cook County town on the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District website. So far this year, positive batches of mosquitoes have been found in district traps in every municipality in the district. The district said risk of infection is currently low and virus activity is moderate but increasing. It recommended that people take measures to protect themselves and minimize their exposure to mosquito bites. The district also reminded residents to eliminate any items from their property that might be holding standing water, as it can provide fertile breeding ground for mosquitoes.
