New Jazz Bar Opening In Downtown Evanston
A new jazz bar, Local Note, is headed to the Downtown Evanston area.
EVANSTON, IL — A new entertainment venue is coming to Downtown Evanston, a jazz bar called Local Note.
The Evanston City Council gave the jazz bar the go-ahead at this week's meeting, with councilmembers and the public expressing support and anticipation for its opening.
"We see the jazz club as another step in bringing more activity to downtown Evanston, along with the opening of North Light theater. Having the jazz club theater gives people more reason to patronize our restaurants and other businesses, making downtown a more popular evening destination," said Bonnie Wilson, board member of the Downtown Evanston Residents Association.

Starting out, the jazz bar will not be offering any food, but there is a possibility of partnerships with local restaurants to provide snack options. Guests will enjoy live music performances and cocktails, owner Kurt Schauer said.
Local Note is expected to open up at 1716 Sherman Ave. sometime in late spring or early summer. Councilmembers expressed their excitement about adding more life downtown.

"I'm personally excited about this as a member of the Economic Development Committee. We're going to be discussing our work plan at the next meeting. One of the things that was a constant was wanting to create more of a nice scene downtown in that particular area," Councilmember Bobby Burns said.
