Classic Car Show/ Touch-A-Truck

The highlight of the summer at Wheeling Park District, this event appeals to all ages! Explore a wide selection of classics and classics in the making. Last year, over 150 cars participated in the event bringing the classiest and craziest cars in the area, including a '80s military cargo van. At Touch-A-Truck, introduce children to all different types of service vehicles and the workers who drive them. Get up close to firetrucks, bulldozers, dump trucks, police cars, ambulances and more! Run for Walk
July 29, 2018
Over the last six years, the Run for Walk has welcomed more than 3,000 Northwestern fans, supporters and friends of the late Head Coach Randy Walker, to honor their former head football coach and create a staple of the Chicagoland running scene. Once again this year, the 5k family walk will continue as part of the Run for Walk, a 4.1 mile run through Evanston's tree-lined streets and on Northwestern's campus. Participants will finish on Ryan Field. The unique run distance harkens back to Randy's uniform number 41 during his collegiate playing days at Miami University. Main Street Summer Concert Series
Through August 3, 2018
The Main Street Summer Concert Series will be held on the following Fridays: June 1, June 29, August 3. Each concerts will be held in the Train Station Alley at 600 Main Street (between the CTA and Metra tracks), and will feature local talent. School of Rock Summer Fridays will be held on the following Fridays: June 22, July 20, August 17th. Each concert will be held on the parking lot at 1308 Chicago Avenue, just north of Dempster Street. The School of Rock House band will headline each of these concerts. The Main-Dempster Mile will provide seating for guests. who can purchase beverages at the concert. Beverages will be provided on the concert grounds by local businesses like Sketchbook Brewing, Wine Goddess, Reprise Roasters, and La Principal. Firehouse Grill will sell slices of Detroit-style pizza in the alley on Main Street, and local eateries Union Squared, Homestead Meats and French Kiss Cafe will offer easy grab-and-go options in their shops for the Chicago Avenue concerts.
