The following obituary is from Donnelan Family Funeral Services.

Harry Smith,76, born in Helena, Arkansas, to parents Henry Smith, Sr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Alberta Smith of Vidalia, Louisiana.

Harry taught physical education in the Evanston School District #65 from 1968 – 1994, first at Kingsley School until it closed, and then at Willard School. He also installed playground equipment and took care of the district’s school grounds during the summers after retirement.

Beloved husband of Pamela nee Cummings; loving father of Melanie (Paul) Wright; proud grandfather of Jasmine Wright; dearest brothers Henry (Joyce) Smith, Jr., Joe (Willie Alma) Smith, James (Maggie) Smith; and cherished sisters Elaine Weddington, Viletta Washington, Maggie (Andrew) Rudd, Margaret Taylor, Easter Mae (Eddie) Patterson, Delores (T.C.) Logan.

Visitation Wednesday, December 17 5-8 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Services, 10045 Skokie Boulevard, at Old Orchard Rd. Skokie, IL 60077. Funeral service Thursday, December 18 10:00am at Hemenway United Methodist Church, 933 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL .
