Northwestern Alum Gets Her Shot at 'Survivor'
Hannah Shapiro has been waiting years for the chance to be on the reality show.

A Northwestern University alum who has dreamed of being a contestant on the reality show “Survivor” since she was a young teenager will see that happen when the 33rd season of the show begins Wednesday night.
Hannah Shapiro has been quite the fan of the show ever since it debuted back at the turn of the 20th century.
A feature in the Chicago Tribune indicates she would mix gummy worms and smashed Oreos to simulate the experience when she was young, wrote her college essay using the show as a theme and was even part of a “Survivor” class at Northwestern.

Now, Shapiro will be one of the 20 castaways in Fiji this season.
The winner of the show will win $1 million.

Shapiro is more than excited about the chance to watch herself on her favorite show. Her Twitter account lately has been filled with references to the show and her upcoming appearance in #survivor33.
Her appearance comes after the second time she tried out for “Survivor.” She gave it an attempt as part of an extra credit assignment while a student at Northwestern in Max Dawson’s class focusing on the show.
We won’t have to wait long to see how much that Wildcat education pays off. The first episode of the series including Shapiro will air at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
