Northwestern Basketball to Play at Allstate Arena in 2017-18
The Wildcats will move out of Evanston for a year while Welsh-Ryan Arena is renovated.
ROSEMONT, IL - The Allstate Arena, nee The Rosemont Horizon.
The de facto venue for concerts and all forms of secondary Chicago sporting events will add another team to its list that have called the venue home.
The Northwestern University men’s basketball team will play their home games there during the 2017-18 season while Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston is renovated, WGN and others have reported.

The renovation at Welsh-Ryan is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017 and not be complete until the fall of 2018.

Northwestern will give the Allstate Arena one additional year as a home court for an NCAA Division I men’s basketball team. The court is currently home to the DePaul University Blue Demons and has been so for years, but DePaul will move to a new home at the McCormick Place in 2017.
The arena has been known as the home of the minor-league hockey team Chicago Wolves and the Chicago Rush, a former Arena Football League team.
The Rosemont Horizon opened in 1980.
In 1999 the name was changed to the Allstate Arena.
