Northwestern Basketball Player Found Dead in Campus Dorm Room

The school and athletic communities are mourning the sudden loss of Jordan Hankins on Monday.

EVANSTON, IL - A Northwestern University basketball player died in her dorm room on Monday.

The school community is mourning the loss of Jordan Hankins, who died on Monday, the school confirmed on its athletics website.

Hankins, a 20-year-old sophomore from Indianapolis, was found in dorm room in the Foster Walker complex on campus, NBC-Chicago reported.

"Jordan was a remarkably dynamic young woman," Northwestern Women's Basketball Head Coach Joe McKeown said in a statement. "This is a devastating loss for our basketball family. She brought an unwavering intensity and commitment to everything in her life. We will miss her enormously."

Foul play is not suspected, according to the NBC report.

Northwestern's next scheduled basketball game, set for Wednesday at the University of Minnesota, has been canceled as a result of Hankins death. The school said it will work with the Big Ten on making up the game.
