Northwestern Professor Resigns Amid Sexual Harassment Claims

Peter Ludlow entered his resignation on Monday, University officials confirmed.

A University statement shared by WGN TV says that Peter Ludlow’s resignation is effective immediately “following findings that he had engaged in sexual harassment involving two students.” The resignation came after the university claims they “had initiated proceedings to terminate Ludlow’s employment.

A Northwestern freshman accused Ludlow of indecent sexual conduct in 2012 and filed a federal lawsuit, which was later dropped, against the school for allegedly mishandling the allegations.

“Northwestern treats sexual harassment and other types of sexual misconduct with the utmost seriousness and is firmly committed to the safety and security of its students, faculty and staff,” according to the statement.

Ludlow has not taught classes since March 2014 and was facing a faculty hearing on the allegations.
