Obituary: Janice Cohn, 92

A service will be held Wednesday for the founder and director of the Board of Jewish Education's early childhood centers.

Janice E. Cohn née Goldman, of Morton Grove, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10 at the age of 92. She is remembered as the beloved wife of Jona Cohn (z”l), the loving mother of Rebecca (David) Eisenberg, Rachel (Dani) Cohen, and David (Ronna) Ness-Cohn, the cherished Savta of Yiftach (Janice), Yochai (Amy), Yuval (Becky), Yonatan, Itai, Arielle, Tali, and Elan, the proud great-grandmother of Orli, Noa, Mara, Boaz, Oren, Sivan, and Eitan, and the dear sister of Zelda (Irwin, z”l) Rich.

Our Savta created Jewish traditions not only for our family but for countless families who attended the BJE early childhood centers that she founded and directed.

Teachers continue to use her child-centered approach and children find their own special love of Jewish family life.
