Oldest Housing Authority Resident Cuts Ribbon at Perlman Apartments
103-year-old Lucille Childress helped usher in renovations at the Evanston facility.

Evanston, IL - The oldest resident of a Cook County Housing Authority building cut the ribbon during a ceremony celebrating renovations at the Jane R. Perlman Apartments in Evanston on Thursday.
Lucille Childress, 103, has been living at the facility for more than 30 years, according to a CBS Chicago report.
Childress grew up in Mississippi, where both her grandfather and great-grandfather were slaves.
