Overnight Shelter Will Open This Week in Evanston
An Evanston church will open its doors to those who need it Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

EVANSTON, IL - The emergency overnight homeless shelter will be open again in Evanston on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, when temperatures in the Chicago area are predicted to hit significant lows.
Doors will open at 9 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 1427 Chicago Ave. on both nights, according to a news release from the city. No entry will be allowed after 10 p.m.
The shelter was opened for the first time this winter Friday night.

The Interfaith Action of Evanston organization has partnered with several churches in the city to provide an emergency overnight shelter when severely cold temperatures hit throughout the winter. The First Congregational Church of Evanston UCC, First United Methodist Church of Evanston, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evanston, First Congregational Church of Evanston, Unitarian Church of Evanston and the Beth Emet The Free Synagogue will also take turns on hosting the shelter.
During the daytime, the public is allowed to stay warm at the city of Evanston community centers and Evanston Public Library locations.
