Parking, Ambulance Fee Hikes Possible in Evanston
The City Council will decide soon to add an increase in the cost of ambulance services.

Aldermen in Evanston are considering fee hikes applying to parking violations and ambulance service as ways to help offset an expected decrease in state funding.
The City Council could vote soon to enact a $5 increase in the fines for those who fail to pay for parking violations within 10 days, according to the Evanston Review. This would apply to violations such as parking without a permit in city lots, parking on the side of a street scheduled for street cleaning and parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.

Also on the table is an increase from $362 to $512 in the ambulance fee.
A motion to increase fee for expired parking meters from $10-25 was taken off the agenda.

The average meter user, according to 7th Ward Ald. Jane Grover “should not incur a $25 fine.”
Officials seek the fees to be in place October 1 to help provide revenue support for the 2016 budget.
