Police Warn About Masked Man Sexually Harassing Women In South Evanston
Evanston police are investigating two incidents where a masked man approached women on the street.
EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police Department warned the public about two incidents that happened Monday involving a masked man who approached women.
Though both incidents happened the same day in south Evanston, police haven't determined if they are related.
The first incident was reported at 12:37 a.m. in the area near Custer and Brummel Streets. A woman told police that a masked man riding a bicycle approached her and grabbed her buttocks before riding away.

The woman described the man as a 5-foot-5-inch tall African-American man. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and a black ski mask, and the bike was a black mountain-style bicycle.
The second incident was reported at 9:10 p.m. on Sherman Avenue near South Boulevard. The woman said that a man with his pants down, exposing himself, walked toward her. She ran into her apartment and was not touched or injured, police said.

The second woman described the man as an African-American man who is about 6 feet tall and has a thin build. He was wearing all-black clothing and a black ski mask, police said.
While investigating the second incident, the first woman told officers that she believed she saw the man who attacked her near Custer Street and Howard Street. Officers were unable to locate him.
Detectives are continuing to follow leads, review video, and seek additional footage, the police department said. Additional officers will be on patrol in south Evanston, according to the department.
Police encouraged residents to remain aware of their surroundings and move toward a populated or well-lit area if they feel unsafe. Call 911 if someone threatens, follows or attempts to grab you.
