Presence Saint Francis Hospital honors employee with first-ever H.O.P.E. Award

Presence Saint Francis Hospital honored Kirk Materewicz, CT lead technologist, with the hospital’s first-ever H.O.P.E. Award. The award is given to those who exemplify Presence Health’s the core values of honesty, oneness, people and excellence. Recipients are nominated by their peers and managers and receive a $500 reward. A Presence Saint Francis employee for more than 20 years, Materewicz lives in Arlington Heights and graduated from the hospital’s School of Radiology in 1994. He was nominated by John Smith, administrative director of radiology, for his dedication to patients and his work.

In his nomination, Smith wrote, “Kirk is a servant leader who engages and owns his daily work. The first time patients meet Kirk, he instantly develops a relationship that makes them feel welcome and comfortable in his care. Kirk reaches out to his staff and has engaged in improving workflows and safe practices.”

All employees in a non-executive leadership role can be nominated if they work at least 20 hours each week and have been employed for a year.
