Public Art Coming to Chicago/Dempster Corridor
Yarn-wrapped tree displays will be seen beginning on May 11 in the district.

A new form of public art will add a splash of color around the Chicago Ave./Dempster St. corridor beginning on Monday, May 11.
Displays of yarn-wrapped trees begin to pop up in the neighborhood will pop up as part of the Chiaravalle Neighborly Love Community Art Project. Local merchants, community members and Chiaravalle Montessori School have worked together to create colorful yarn circles in various sizes that will be stitched together and wrapped around trees throughout the area. In addition to the pop-up yarn displays, friendship bracelets and chains will be wrapped around smaller trees and the base of parking meters.
The public art displays will be installed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 11, 13 and 14 in preparation for the YEA! (Young Evanston Artists) Day festival to be held on Saturday, May 16 in Raymond Park.
