The Center for Faith and Community Health Transformation and the Evanston Health and Human Services Department are interested in having conversations with clergy about their role in helping to prevent the flu and in promoting optimal health, in general.

Pastors are often identified as “trusted messengers” by public health care partners and their congregants. We’re interested in whether clergy view themselves in this way and, if so, how they perceive themselves living out the role of the “trusted messenger.” We’re also interested in learning about other ways clergy see themselves as promoters of the health of their community members. Findings from these conversations will become part of an existing Model Practices Toolkit published by the Interfaith Health Program at Emory University. Participation would involve attending an informational breakfast and a 1-hour individual interview. Participants would receive a $150 stipend as compensation for their participation. If you’re interested, please contact Evonda Thomas-Smith, Director of Evanston’s Health and Human Services Department, by Friday, January 16, 2015, at ethomas@cityofevanston.org or 847-866-2957.
