Retired Music Teacher Identified as Unconscious Man Found on Chicago Street
Man who fell on street in Edgewater last month was Michael Reiniger, a retired District 65 teacher who died from his injuries.

An unconscious man found last month on a street in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood has died.
Authorities have identified the man, found on August 29 in the 1200 block of W. Granville, as 62-year-old Michael G. Reiniger - according to the Edgeville Buzz. Reiniger, a longtime resident of Chicago, was a retired music teacher in School District 65 and was active in the Young Evanston Artists (YEA!) and Evanston In-School Music Association (EISMA) organizations.

According to reports, Reiniger was seen on the street struggling to walk, and then fell and struck his head on the pavement. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he remained unconscious until he died.
“I was shocked and disheartened to learn he was unnamed for 2 1/2 weeks,” Stephen B. Starr, a longtime friend of Reiniger, told the Buzz.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
”Some of us try to puzzle it out in our conversation, but all that is hearsay. It’s very troubling… but it will not bring Michael back.”
