Rick Ferguson Lecture Recital: Beethoven's Early Compositional Style

Musical Offering founder and artistic director explores Beethoven as young genius.

Dear Friends--

I’d like to invite you to a lecture recital I’ll be presenting at The Musical Offering on “Beethoven’s Early Compositional Style”.

I’ll be exploring Beethoven as a young composer and pianist and how his personal process of artistic growth affected the evolution of much of the music that was to evolve over the following century—and how Beethoven’s work created the model of ‘independent artist’ that began to flourish in the 19th-Century and came to fruition thereafter.

The program will include two works from Beethoven’s chamber repertoire: The cello sonata Op. 5, Nr. 1 and the violin sonata Op. 30, Nr. 3. I’ll be joined by my colleagues and Musical Offering faculty artists Sheila Hanford, violin and Sarah Beske, cello.

Appropriate for ages 9 and up.

Tickets are $15 adults/$10 students
Musical Offering students free with paying adult
