Roycemore School in Evanston last week announced the launch of its flexible Roycemore Online platform, spanning full-time curriculum for Pre-K through 12th grade and ad hoc high school classes that students outside of Roycemore can take for academic credit. Designed for a range of families who may want a full-time online curriculum for the 2020-2021 school year, and others who seek high quality individual classes to augment their high school homeschooling or public school offerings, Roycemore Online provides even more options for families this fall.

“We have held a range of virtual community forums, sent surveys, and polled online homeschooling communities in recent weeks. As other schools start to announce their fall plans, parents are expressing tremendous frustration and worry,” said Adrianne Finley Odell, Head of School at Roycemore. “We realized we had the ingredients for another option for families trying to shape a more productive high school year than what they were seeing unfold elsewhere … namely, our individual classes taught by seasoned faculty, spanning core English, World Language, Math, Social Studies, and Science."

There are more than 40 high school courses available for part-time students who seek to earn extra high school academic credit online this school year. Each academic area offers a range of classes starting with beginning level courses such as Mandarin 1 and Algebra - through courses that carry the AP distinction such as AP Physics and AP Calculus.

High School students who are not enrolled full-time at Roycemore can choose up to two courses to supplement their existing course work. The vast majority of these courses start at the beginning of the academic year on August 25th and run for the full school year. A few Social Studies courses are offered as semester-long courses including America in Vietnam, Consumer Education, and Developmental Psychology. All courses available are at the high school-level and prerequisites do apply for some options. Parents see a detailed list of course offerings on the Roycemore Online Page.

Roycemore will ensure full-time and part-time students receive course-related learning support outside the class timeframe. Interested families can apply online, contact the school directly with questions, or join the school’s Virtual Admissions Morning on Wednesday, August 5th.

Roycemore continues to hear from families who are seeking on-campus learning options for the 2020-2021 school year and they are set to start on-campus classes on August 25th, under a strict Health and Safety Plan. The administration and faculty have carefully planned their delivery to be inclusive of on-campus and off-campus class participants, while ensuring safety is paramount. Faculty are prepared to shift to hybrid and/or full remote learning for all students, should the State of Illinois or other authorities require physical schools to close for any period of time.
