Roycemore's Popular Summer Program Launches Virtual Camps
In addition to their onsite summer programs and enrichment camps, Roycemore is adding Virtual Camps to their 2020 offerings.

Roycemore’s popular summer camp launches a new virtual program on June 8th, offering a wide variety of courses designed to keep kids of all ages safely engaged, active, and learning remotely during a predicted summertime of social distancing. While the school’s long running, onsite Camp Griffin and Inspiration Camp are still poised to open with increased safety protocol when Phase 3 Recovery guidelines under Restore Illinois allow, Roycemore’s new virtual camp offerings are designed to begin immediately and fill the new “at-home” need created by COVID-19 over the summer.
Nineteen virtual camps and courses span subjects including creative writing, poetry, visual design, computer science, eco-independence, as well as courses eligible for high school credit in foreign language, English and math. Middle and high school soccer players of all levels looking to increase their endurance, agility, and strength over the summer can even enroll in an eight-week virtual fitness class which earns physical education credit. Roycemore’s virtual camps and courses are designed to offer parents and students maximum flexibility, varying in length from one to eight weeks and lasting from one to two hours spread throughout the morning and afternoon. Some meet daily while others only certain days of the week. Camps are taught by current Roycemore teachers who are already skilled at remote engagement, as well as several visiting instructors who have a specific expertise in a variety of subject areas.
A highlight of the new virtual summer program are Roycemore’s Adobe Camps, six courses taught by an Adobe Education Leader who will introduce students of all ages to design-technology skills such as digital photography and stop motion video using the Adobe Creative Cloud. Adrianne Finley Odell, Rocyemore’s Head of School, notes, “The Adobe Camps are unique to Roycemore. And because of our partnership with Adobe, we’re also pleased to provide each student who registers for one of these camps with a complimentary, year-long Adobe Creative Cloud student account. Access to this software, which would normally cost $240, is already enjoyed by our own students as part of their Roycemore experience. Now it is also free for our campers.”
