Evanston Man Gets Out of Jail Only to Be Arrested for ID Theft
Ronald F. Williams is accused of stealing credit cards from a Deerfield hotel guest in 2015.

An Evanston man walked out of jail recently only to end up in custody with the Deerfield police after being accused of stealing the credit cards and identity of a Deerfield hotel guest in 2015, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ronald F. Williams, 25, of the 800 block of Brummel Street, Evanston, was charged with felony identity theft and unlawful use of a credit card. He was released March 18 from the Shawnee Correctional Center—where he was serving time on unrelated charges—when police arrested him in connection with the credit card case, the Tribune reports.
Williams' next court date is Wednesday, March 30, in Lake County Circuit Court.

Williams and an unnamed woman are accused of stealing two credit cards from a Deerfield hotel guest and then using those cards to buy an iPhone, cigarettes and alcohol at a Wheeling Walmart. The guest reported the illegal purchases to police after she was alerted by her financial institution.
Police were able to identify Williams and the woman thanks to store security videos and documents, the Tribune reports. The woman had been previously prosecuted in the incident.
