Scholar Athletes Impress

Three scholar athletes from ETHs post great records, in and out of the classroom

As the academic school year comes to an end, the parade of athletes, fine arts and community service Scholars honored at the Kiwanis Club of Evanston’s weekly luncheons continues to delight and inspire. Their involvement in many phases of good works, as well as their community interests, continually energizes other adults.

On Tuesday, April 25th, the club honored Shan Waterloo, Boys Volleyball, Ruby Siegel, Girls Soccer and Tauja Foreman, Girls Track and Field. Shan loves the game and feels that ‘smarts’ are a key factor, not just athleticism. He will attend Northwestern in the fall. Ruby Siegel is a junior on the Girls Soccer Team and also involved in Best Buddies and Special Olympics, as well as Girls Play Sports. The third winner the Ted Van Zelst Award is Tauja Foreman, currently the 2nd fastest 100 meter hurdles runner in Illinois. She, too, is involved with Girls Play Sports. Tauja will attend Western Michigan University on scholarship and looks forward to a career in pharmacy.

Each honoree receives a certificate of recognition, a book on leadership and a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble.
