Severe Thunderstorm to Produce Large Hail, Heavy Rain
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for portions of northeastern Illinois.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for a portion of northeastern Illinois until 4 p.m.
Counties affected by the warning include: Southeastern McHenry County, Northern Cook County, Northeastern Kane County and Lake County.

The severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Beach Park to Gilberts and moving southeast at 25 mph. The storms could produce hail the size of a half-dollar, according to the National Weather Service.
Flash flooding may also occur and damage to vehicles is expected. Residents in the affected area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building, according to the National Weather Service.

Communities that are expected to be impacted by the storm include: Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Skokie, Evanston, Schaumburg, Carpentersville, Gurnee, Glenview, Mundelein, Park Ridge, Northbrook, Wheeling, Mount Prospect, Elgin and Chicago.
