Skimming Device Used to Rob Bank Customers of $50K

Two men were seen on surveillance footage placing a skimming device at an ATM in Lincolnwood.

A debit card skimming device was placed on an ATM inside the main doorway of the BMO Harris Bank at 6820 Lincoln Ave. in Lincolnwood on two separate occasions over the last month, robbing bank customers of more than $50,000.

Police are searching for two white men, aged 40-50, who were seen on the bank’s surveillance footage placing the device on top of the ATM’s card reader and a 12-inch piece of two-sided tape with an attached camera over the pin keypad on the mornings of April 26 and May 3 and retrieving the items later those nights, the Lincolnwood Review reports. Both men were wearing winter jackets and hats during the incidents.

BMO Harris Bank spokesman Patrick O’Herlihy confirmed the skimming device was discovered.
