Skokie Resident Hospitalized with West Nile Virus
The adult is the second human case of the virus in Illinois this year, and in as many days.

An adult resident of Skokie is Illinois’ second confirmed human case of the West Nile virus in as many days.
The resident has been hospitalized after becoming infected with the disease, according to the Skokie Review. An adolescent girl who lives in St. Clair County was the state’s first human case of the year.
West Nile symptoms begin 3-15 days after being bitten by a mosquito. Some mosquitoes in all communities covered by the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District have tested positive for the virus this year.
