Stanley Cup Made Appearance at Evanston Hospital Tuesday Morning

Chicago Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz and his wife, Marilyn, showed it off with patients and families at the hospital Tuesday.

The Stanley Cup made a stop in Evanston Tuesday morning at NorthShore University HealthSystem’s Evanston Hospital.

Families served by the hospital’s Infant Special Care Unit were able to connect with sports’ most famous trophy when Chicago Blackhawks Chairman Rocky Wirtz, a resident of Winnetka, brought the Cup there early Tuesday, according to the Evanston Review.

“It’s been nice to be able to share the cup locally,” Wirtz said.

Babies, patients and little kids were all intrigued by the Cup, added Marilyn Wirtz, Rocky’s wife.

The Stanley Cup visited patients at the hospital’s Infant Special Care Unit, Women’s Hospital, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Unit, Kellogg Cancer Center and the Pediatric Unit.

A brief video of one newborn baby sitting in the Cup was captured and shared by NBC-5-Chicago.

This isn’t the Cup’s first appearance at Evanston Hospital, having made appearances in both the summers of 2010 and 2013 - the last two times the Blackhawks won the championship.
