Taco Diablo Reopens on Davis Street

A Mexican favorite in Evanston is open less than three years after a devastating fire.

EVANSTON, IL - An Evanston Mexican food restaurant has reopened three years after a fire closed its previous location.

But Taco Diablo is back in business on Davis Street, according to a Daily Northwestern story. Just on the other side of the street.

The restaurant that serves tacos, salads and margaritas and features uch of the same aspects as the first restaurant that burned down nearly three years ago, opened at 1026 Davis Street in late August.

The Dec. 29, 2013 fire not only put Taco Diablo out of commission, but it destroyed the nearby Pine Yard Restaurant and TechniColour Nail & Day Spa.

Owner Daniel Kelch says it’s huge to get Taco Diablo back on Davis Street, where they say a solid following in the 18 months of operation before the fire.
