Three Crowns Park Plans Major Expansion In Evanston: Report
Reps with the retirement community want to build a three-story, 209,000 square-foot addition to the property at 2323 McDaniel Ave.

EVANSTON, IL – Three Crowns Park, a non-profit retirement community in northwest Evanston, is gearing up for a major expansion.
According to “Evanston Now,” officials have submitted preliminary plans to the city to build a three-story, 209,000 square-foot addition to the property at 2323 McDaniel Ave. The new addition, with 83 independent-living units, would be roughly equivalent to the McDaniel Courts addition of 91 independent-living units at the west side of the property that opened in 2007, the newspaper reports.
The plans would also add 125 underground parking spaces on the block-square site, which is bounded by McDaniel Avenue, Colfax Street, Pioneer Road and Grant Street. According to the newspaper, the expansion would also result in the demolition of the oldest portion of the Three Crowns complex, known as Pioneer Place, which dates to 1909 and is designated an Evanston landmark.
