Tinted Window Stop Leads To Handgun With Extended Clip, Arrest
A 21-year-old Evanston man was arrested after police found a gun loaded with 29 rounds in his car, according to police.

EVANSTON, IL — Police said a 21-year-old Evanston man was found with a gun containing 29 rounds Thursday.
Lambert Sayles, of the 2300 block of Lee Street, faces charges of felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, misdemeanor possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license and driving with a suspended license, according to police.
Police said Sayles was also issued citations for having a small amount of marijuana, illegal window tint, expired registration and no proof of insurance.

Detectives from the Evanston police tactical squad patrolling the area of Greenleaf Street and Chicago Avenue pulled over a blue Mercury he was driving that appeared to have illegally tinted windows, according to police.
The driver, Sayles, immediately got out of the car, according to police. Detectives stopped him and spoke to him, finding about half a gram of cannabis on his person and a loaded handgun in the car.

Police said the gun was a .40 caliber Glock 22 loaded with an extended magazine containing 29 rounds. Sayles admitted the gun was his, according to police.

Sayles was released on electronic monitoring ahead of his next court appearance Oct. 16 in Skokie. Prosecutors said at a preliminary hearing Tuesday they were preparing to return an indictment of Sayles on his latest charges.
Records show Evanston police arrested Sayles last November on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Further details of that case were not immediately available.
