Top 10 States Whose Residents are Most, Least Likely to Use Drugs 'to Relax'
Findings from a recent Gallup survey on frequency of mood-altering drug and medication use for relaxation purposes.

A recent Gallup-Healthways survey found Illinois was among the top 10 states whose residents are least likely to use mood-altering drugs on a near-daily basis “to help relax.”
Gallup notes the interpretation of drug use is left up to respondents and could include recreational or prescription drugs, alcohol and nicotine.
While the survey indicates Illinoisans are among the least likely in the nation to use such substances nearly every day to induce relaxation, a few of our neighbors made the top 10 list of states with the highest rate of drug and medication use. West Virginians topped that list with 28.1 percent of respondents saying “almost every day.”
