Traffic Changes Planned at Chicago/Main Throughout January

Work on sewer and water connections will change patters for a three week period.

EVANSTON, IL - Traffic around the Chicago Ave.-Main St. corridor in Evanston may be even more tight than usual in January.

As sewer and water connections will be installed, a temporary traffic control plan will be in place on weekdays between Monday, Jan. 4 and Friday, Jan. 22. Construction hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for on Wednesday, Jan. 6, when work will take place between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

From the City of Evanston:

During work on Chicago Ave., there will be lane shifts on both sides of the street, and there will be parking restrictions in the work area. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Signage, barricades and orange cones will assist traffic flow.

During work on Main St., there will only be one two-way lane available. Flaggers will be at each end of the construction area to direct traffic. Please use caution.
