Uber Driver Beat By Bat in Alley: Cops

An Evanston woman is also accused of smashing out the driver's window after an altercation in a Benson Avenue alley.

EVANSTON, IL - A young Evanston woman is accused of beating up an Uber driver with a baseball bat and smashing the window of his car after a confrontation in an Evanston alley.

Myesha Griffin, 19, of the 2300 block of Foster Street is being held on counts of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property after the altercation in the 1700 block of Benson Avenue, according to the Chicago Tribune.

According to reports, she was a passenger in a car driven by her mother in an ally. When the car’s exit to the ally was being blocked by the Uber driver who was waiting to pick up a passenger, Griffin’s mother beeped at the Uber car and as she was getting past it, Griffin smashed out a pair of windows.

When the driver got out to confront her, that’s when she allegedly struck the 27-year-old in the head with a bat.

The male victim then attempted to open the other car door at least twice, at which time Griffin’s mother drove off, dragging him down the street.

The man needed three staples to close the wounds on the back of his head.
