What is Open, Closed On 4th of July Weekend?

Find out what services are available over the holiday weekend.

The City of Evanston announces closures and refuse collection schedules for the Independence Day holiday weekend, Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.

Facilities
The Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center will be closed July 3-5. All Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on July 3 and 4. The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be closed on July 3, open on July 4 from 9 a.m. to noon, and open on July 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.The Robert Crown Center will be closed July 3 and 4. The Levy Senior Center will be closed onJuly 3 and 4, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 5. The Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed July 3 and 4, and open on July 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Chandler-Newberger Center and the Ecology Center will be closed July 3-5.

311 Center
Evanston’s 311 Call Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 3 and for extended hours on July 4, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The 311 Center will be closed on Sunday, July 5 in accordance with its normal operating schedule.

Parking
No street sweeping will occur on July 3; street sweeping parking restrictions will not be in effect.

Signs will be posted where temporary 4th of July parade and fireworks “No Parking” restrictions are in effect.

Parking meters and downtown parking garages will be free on July 4. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.

Refuse Collection
No refuse collections will occur on Friday, July 3. Friday condo collections will occur one day early on Thursday, July 2.
