What's Open, Closed on Labor Day Weekend in Evanston

City lists when public facilities will be closed for the upcoming holiday.

The City of Evanston has announced facility closures and refuse collection schedules for the 2015 Labor Day holiday weekend, Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7.

Refuse Collection
No collections will occur on September 7. All trash and recycling collections will occur one day later than usual. Thursday recycling collections and Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Friday, September 11.

Facilities
The Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center will be closed September 5-7. All Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on September 6 and 7. The Chandler-Newberger Center and Ecology Center will be closed September 5-7. The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Noyes Cultural Arts Center, Levy Senior Center and Robert Crown Center will be closed September 7.

Beaches
All five public swimming beaches will be open September 5-7 from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

311 Center
Evanston’s 311 Call Center will be closed on September 7.

Parking
No street sweeping will occur on September 7; street sweeping parking restrictions will not be in effect.

Parking meters and downtown parking garages will be free on September 7. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.
