Wildkits Win Softball Regional Semifinal 9-1 Against Maine East
Freshman Molly Chambers threw more than six no-hit innings over two days.

EVANSTON, IL — After a game that took two days to finish, the Evanston Township High School (ETHS) Wildkit softball team emerged victorious from its regional semifinal against Maine East Wednesday, winning by a score of 9-1.
The game began Tuesday and was postponed heading into the third inning, according to a ETHS coach Katie Perkins. After starting pitcher Grace Elwood was relieved after two thirds of an inning, freshman Molly Chambers took the mound and gave a dominant performance. Chambers ended the first by pitching a strikeout and went on to strike out 12 of the 19 batters she faced, throwing a no-hitter for the rest of the game.
At the time the game was suspended, the Wildkits led 4-1. When the game restarted, they continued scoring, finishing with five more runs. At the plate, Lucy Hart and Eisfelder each went 2-3 with two doubles, while Hanna Schaps notched two singles and also went 2-3.

"We, as a program, strive for HEART; hard work, effort, attitude, respect, and trust," Perkins told Patch via email.
"This team has HEART and in this post-season will push to excel and take care of business one pitch at a time," said the second-year coach. Perkins has now led the team beyond last year's record-setting 18 wins.
