YWCA Holds Racial Justice Summit

"The Urgency of How" is the topic of the 3rd annual YWCA Evanston/North Shore summit on April 12.

From YWCA Evanston/North Shore: YWCA Evanston/North Shore invites the public to its third annual racial justice summit from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at the Unitarian Church of Evanston, 1330 Ridge Avenue.

This year’s summit is titled “The Urgency of How,” and its goal is to bring people of all ages and demographics together to deepen their understanding of their own racial identities, develop skills to work for change, formulate action plans, and engage with others.

The keynote speaker will be Tamar Manasseh, a mother from the Bronzeville neighborhood who founded Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings (MASK) in 2015 to interrupt crime and violence on a block-by-block basis. MASK focuses on reclaiming neighborhoods “with an army of moms.”
