18-Year-Old Man Charged With Deceptive Practice

Prosecutors said he tried cashing phony checks at an Evergreen Park loan store.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- An 18-year-old man was charged with forgery when he tried cashing a phony check at a loan store, prosecutors said.

According to the charges, Travon Neylon-Wiggins went to the PLS Loan, 2507 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park where he tried cashing checks from two Hinsdale businesses. Neylon presented a driver’s license to cash the checks.

Police were called to the store around 12:38 p.m. Dec. 20, when employees contacted the businesses and learned they did not issue Neylon any checks, the prosecutor said.

Neylon also has a pending misdemeanor case for criminal damage to property from August, for which a violation of bail bond was filed.

Cook County Judge Peter Felice set bail on the bail violation at $5,000, and $10,000 for the new charge. Neylon’s next hearing is set for Jan. 12 in Bridgeview.
