Alleged Burglar Busted in Traffic Stop: Prosecutor

Officers found mountain bike, TV, in man's car, prosecutors said.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- A Homewood man pulled over for a traffic stop was revealed to have freshly stolen property from an Evergreen Park resident prosecutors said.

Andre Young 57, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a burglary charge after he allegedly broke into a home through the garage service door in the 8800 block of South Kedzie. Avenue.

According to the allegations, Evergreen Park police pulled Young over for a traffic stop around 9:30 a.m. July 26. Officers found a Giant mountain bike and flat screen in his car. Young did not have a driver license. The owner was able to identify his property.

Prosecutors said Young was currently on probation for a 2015 theft conviction. He also has 2012 conviction for unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance, for which he served four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Bail was set at $150,000. Young’s next hearing is Aug. 10 in Bridgeview.
