EVERGREEN PARK, IL—School bells are ringing in a new academic year, and back-to-school planning has already begun at Evergreen Park Community High School Dist. 231 with calendars available to help parents prepare their students for a smooth transition into the 2026-2027 school year.
Orientation for EPCHS freshmen and transfer students is set for Aug. 12. The first day of school for all grades is Aug. 13. Dist. 231 has also put together a back-to-school guide with useful information for the entire school year.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. We also suggest checking the full EPCHS academic calendar for conferences, open houses, meetings, exams, early dismissals, late starts, athletic and other school events.
Here's a look at some dates to know for the 2026-2027 school year:
Aug. 11 - Freshmen/parent meeting, 7 to 8 p.m.
Aug. 12 - Freshmen/transfer student, 8 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Aug. 13 - First day of school, all grades report
Sept. 7 - Labor Day, no school
Sept. 21 to Sept. 26 - HOMECOMING WEEK
Oct. 12 - Indigenous People Day
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day, off
Nov. 25-27 - Thanksgiving break
Nov. 30 - Classes resume
Dec. 23 to Jan. 5 - Winter break
Jan. 6 - Teacher Institute, no student attendance
Jan. 7 - School resumes
Jan. 18 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
Feb. 15 - Presidents Day, no school
March 1 - Casimir Pulaski Day, no school
March 29 to April 2 - Spring Break
April 5 - Classes resume
May 14 - Seniors last day
