EVERGREEN PARK, IL—As summer draws to a close, back-to-school planning has already begun in Evergreen Park Elementary School Dist. 124 for the 2026-2027 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their students for a smooth transition into the new school year.
The first day of school for grade K-8 students is Aug. 20, with elementary schools dismissed at 11:20 a.m., and 11:40 a.m. for Central Middle School students (grades 6-9). The first full day for grades K-8 is Aug. 21. Preschool students start school on Aug. 24.
Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the full Dist. 124 calendar or your child's school (Southwest, Southeast, Northwest, Northeast, and Central Middle School) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school. Calendars are available in English and Spanish.
Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 124 schools this school year:
Aug. 20 - First day of school for K-8 and before school program. Early dismissal at K-5 schools at 11:20 a.m. and Central Middle School at 11:40 a.m.
Aug. 21 - First full day of school and after-school program for grades K-8.

Nov. 11 - Veterans Day, off

Nov. 30 - School resumes
Dec. 23 through Jan. 5 - Winter break
Jan. 6 - Teacher Institute, no school.

March 1 - Casimir Pulaski Day, off
March 26 to April 2 - Spring break
May 27 - 8th grade graduation (tentative); last day of PreK/early childhood classes
May 31 - Memorial Day, no school
June 1 - Clerical day, no student attendance
June 2 - Last day of school for K-8, early dismissal 11:20 a.m. elementary; 11:40 a.m. middle school.
