EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Hear about the fascinating history of Chicago’s luminous theater history when author Mark Larson visits the Evergreen Park Public Library to discuss his epic book, “Ensemble: An Oral History of Chicago Theater.” The talk starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.

Drawing from nearly 300 interviews, Larson’s epic oral history recounts 60-plus years of Chicago’s theater history from the early days of The Compass Players and the emergence of Second City in the 50s and 60s, to Steppenwolf in the 70s to the explosion of Chicago’s experimental storefront theater companies. Woven into the narrative are interviews with performers, producers, composers, designers and others who played a crucial role in building Chicago theater into an international power house.
