Back To School: Evergreen Park ESD 124 Academic Calendar 2023-2024

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun for the 2023-2024 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the new school year.

The first day of school for K-8 students is Aug. 24, with a noon dismissal for Evergreen Park Elementary Dist 124 with early dismissal for elementary students at 11:20 a.m. , with Central Middle School dismissal at 11:40 a.m.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 124 calendar or your child’s school (Southwest, Southeast, Northwest, Northeast, and Central Middle School) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school.

Also, during the 2023-2024 school year, students at the elementary schools will begin at 9:20 a.m. and students at the middle school will begin school at 9:40 a.m. every Wednesday except, August 30, October 18 , October 25, November 8, January 10, January 17, March 13, May 22, and May 29, to provide teachers with Professional Learning Time.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 124 schools this school year:

Aug. 24 - First day of school for K-8 and before school program. Early dismissal at K-5 schools at 11:20 a.m. and Central Middle School at 11:40 a.m.

Aug. 25 - First full day of classes and after school program; first day of school for early childhood/preK classes.

Sept 4 - Labor Day, off

Oct. 6 - Indigenous People Day, off

Nov. 10 - Veterans Day, off
Nov. 20 to Nov. 21 - Parent/Teacher conferences, no student attendance
Nov. 22 to Nov. 24 - Thanksgiving break
Nov. 27 - School resumes

Dec. 22 to Jan. 5 - Winter vacation

Jan. 8 - Teacher Institute Day, no student attendance
Jan. 9 - Classes resume
Jan. 15 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, off

Feb. 19 - Presidents Day, off

March 4 - Casimir Pulaski Day, off
March 22 - early dismissal, 11:20 a.m. for K- 5; 11:40 a.m. for middle school students; parent/teacher conferences 12:15 to 3:15 p.m.
March 29 to April 5 - Spring break

April 8 - Classes resume
