Barraco's Vince Vaughn Gag Fools 18,000 People

Barraco’s Pizza pulled an April Fool’s Day prank on more than 18,000 people last week. But some of them will get a free pizza to make up for the gag.

On April 1, Barraco’s posted this too-good-to-be-true item on the restaurant’s Facebook page:

We are SUPER EXCITED to announce that local Chicago actor Vince Vaughn will be shooting a movie at our 111th Street location in 2015!

For those interested in being extras, hit the like, share or comment below & we’ll pick a few people.

Four photos of a smiling, pensive, come-hithery Vince Vaughn accompanied the post. The response, of course, was overwhelming. More than 18,000 people “liked” the post and 6,400 people shared it.

Alas, on Saturday, April 4, Barraco’s ‘fessed up to the joke.

Remember that day when your favorite local pizza spot played a great April Fools joke on you?

Well, that was just a few days ago. Unfortunately we must let you know that one of our sneaky employees posted an April Fools joke the other day that Vince Vaughn was filming a movie at our place. He unfortunately is not.

We know our customers well in that we know you will take this as a joke and laugh it off as life really needs some humor in it once in awhile right? With that being said, because y’all are such great sports, we are going to give away some FREE pizzas to different people who commented on the Vince Vaughn April Fools joke.

“Totally fell for it,” replied Kimberly Burke.

“No worries — it was a good joke!!” said Sandy Matichak-Churchwell.

Nice to see Vaughn, a Lake Forest native, has so many admirers on the South Side.

Now, that story about Vince Vaughn inviting a few hundred Chicagoans to a party at the penthouse bachelor pad he put up for sale? The one with Hugh Hefner’s office inside? That’s totally true. We’ll see you there.
