Bring Earl Home: Parrot's Owners Search for Beloved Pet Missing from Evergreen Park

Have you seen this bird? His owners are desperately seeking to bring him home.

While most in Illinois are dreading this week’s cold snap, one Chicago resident has more than just his own warmth on his mind.

What will happen to Josh Symonds’ 3-year-old pet parrot?

The beloved African Gray parrot—lovingly known as ”Earl”—went missing from his boarder’s house in Evergreen Park November 1, and as temperatures drop, Symonds is finding it harder to hope for his safe return.

“We don’t even know if he’s dead or alive anymore,” Symonds said, “or where in the world he could possibly be.”

The chatty bird can often be heard squawking “Where’s Earl,” “Where’s Josh,” and “Pretty bird.” He also whistles and coos often, Symonds said. He also has an injury that requires special care. African Gray parrots are known for their black, hooked beak, grey feathers with black tips, and bright red tail.

“Please help us find our missing family member,” Symonds wrote on a flyer shared on social media.
