"Candlelight Cabaret" on Saturday March 2
Vocal concert will kick off the tenth anniversary year of the Evergreen Park Recreation Department Candlelight Theatre program.

The Evergreen Park Recreation Department Candlelight Theatre will celebrate these first signs of Spring with a special concert coming this Saturday night.
The “Candlelight Cabaret” is a one-night Vocal Concert, which is followed by a delicious wine/cheese/appetizer reception. Area soloists provide an hour or so of wonderful music (Broadway, pop, classical) before the lights come up and the appetizer table is opened.
The concert takes place on Saturday, March 2 at 7pm in the Performance Hall of the Evergreen Park Senior Center, 9547 S. Homan Avenue. The cost is $22 for adults, $20 for seniors/students. Soda and water will be available for those who prefer non-alcoholic refreshments.
The event is special for two reasons.
First, the theatre program is celebrating its tenth anniversary!

The Recreation Department Candlelight Theatre program began in January of 2014 with a concert not unlike the event coming this Saturday. What followed has been a continued series of dramas, comedies, youth musicals, concerts, along with special annual events such as the autumn “FantaSciFest”. The theatre program itself is an intimate, blackbox theatre experience. For smaller productions, such as this concert, guests will be seated at candlelit banquet tables.
On a bittersweet note, two long-time supporters have passed away and the theatre program would like to recognize them. Mary Phillips and Evanne Kennedy, residents of Evergreen Park, were at virtually every production for the last ten years. This performance will be dedicated to these fine ladies, and two empty chairs will be placed with a rose on the seats in their memory.
Both were frequent donators to the Evergreen Park Village Pantry, and the theatre program will make a special donation to that community effort.
Tickets can be purchased at the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street, Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm. Advance reservations are recommended, as the limited seating at this intimate setting will fill up quickly. Questions can be directed to eptheatre@yahoo.com.
