Catch The Holiday Spirit Saturday At 'A Dickens Christmas' Celebration
Step into the 19th century at Evergreen Park's annual 'A Dickens Christmas,' Saturday, Dec. 2, at Klein (Circle) Park.
EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Gather with family and friends to welcome the spirit of Christmas this Saturday, Dec. 2, at the annual "A Dickens Christmas" community celebration. The holiday merriment runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at Klein (Circle) Park, 97th Street and Homan Avenue.
Nothing personifies Christmas more than Charles Dickens to get people in the holiday mood and build up little ones' excitement for the big day. A Dickens Christmas features strolling Victorian madrigals, the Sounds of Christmas, winter obstacle course (weather dependent), family crafts, face painting, trolley rides and much more. The Jolly Old Elf — Santa — is also expected to drop by and listen to children's wishes.
It won’t be Christmas in Evergreen Park without the annual tree lighting ceremony. Mayor Kelly Burke will flip the switch at 6 p.m. The event is free and visitors can get warm in the community center where hot cocoa and cookies will be served. Please bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.
