Chicago Cubs Coach And Former EP Mustang Jim Adduci's Number Retired

Although the public number retirement ceremony was rained out, Jim Adduci slipped into Evergreen Park High School to see his old #1 retired.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — While Evergreen Park Community High School’s ceremony to retire MLB player, coach and former Mustang Jim Adduci’s uniform number was rained out, Adduci was able to slip away and see his old #1 retired on Friday.

The ceremony that was to have taken place May 5 before the Evergreen Park-Tinley Park game at the new ball fields at Evergreen Park Community High School, it was a rare day off for Adduci, who is currently the run production coordinator for the Chicago Cubs, and a public ceremony could not be rescheduled.

Adducii was a two-sport star in baseball and basketball during his EPCHS years, graduating in 2003. He batted over .500 his junior season and .550 his senior season. He earned team MVP, all conference, and all area in his junior and senior seasons. Adduci was named an all state honorable mention by both the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune following his senior season. He committed to play college baseball for Northern Illinois during his senior year of high school.

He was drafted in the 42nd round of 2003 draft by the Florida Marlins. In addition to the Marlins, Adduci played with the Cubs, Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers. Adduci was named run production coordinator for the Chicago Cubs in 2020.
