Craigslist Ad Soliciting Young Teen for Oral Sex Ends in Police Sting

EVERGREEN PARK, IL -- An Aurora man was arrested when he showed up at an Evergreen Park McDonald’s thinking he was meeting a 15-year-old girl after taking out a Craigslist ad seeking a young teen for oral sex, prosecutors said.

Michael Tacket, 27, of the 1800 block of Brighton Circle, Aurora, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of indecent solicitation of a child.

According to the charges, police became aware of a Craigslist ad placed by Tackett seeking a young teen he could give oral sex to on Aug. 25. A female Evergreen Park police officer posing as a girl named “Jenna” began exchanging emails with Tackett.

“Jenna” told Tackett she was a 15-year-old student and did not drive, the prosecutor said. Between Aug. 25 and Aug. 30, several communications went back and forth, where Tackett allegedly asked the girl if she would be open to him performing oral sex.

The prosecutor said that Tackett also asked Jenna if she could send him nude photos of herself, not realizing he was communicating with a police officer. Evergreen Park police sent a photo of female wearing a white tank top and pajama bottoms with her face cut out of the picture.

Tackett returned a photo presumably of himself displaying the bottom half of his face and his torso, the prosecutor said. Tackett suggested the two meet up at Jenna’s home, but the McDonald’s at 2620 W. 95th St. in Evergreen Park was suggested instead.

On Aug. 30, Tackett texted a photo to Jenna of the T-shirt he would be wearing to their alleged rendezvous. Prior to Tackett’s arrival, Evergreen Park cops set up video surveillance of the McDonald’s parking lot, the prosecutor said.

When Tackett arrived, the prosecutor said he parked and sent a description of his car to Jenna. Evergreen Park moved in an arrested Tackett on charges of indecent solicitation of a child.

Tackett has no prior criminal background, according to the prosecutor and court records.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Tackett is employed as a server in Joliet. He is also the father of a newborn child.

The prosecutor requested special conditions of bond, including no contact with children under 18, and no access to the Internet via computer or phone. Judge Havis ordered Tackett to have no contact with his newborn baby as well.

Bail was set at $250,000. If convicted, Tackett faces probation or one to three years in prison. The Aurora man is due back in court Sept. 22 in Bridgeview.
