D124 thanks local grocery stores for generosity

Donations from Mariano's and Meijer allow District to offer free Community Education programming

The managers of the Evergreen Park Mariano’s and Meijer grocery stores were thanked for their support of Evergreen Park School District 124 at the Feb. 26 Board of Education meeting.

The generosity of Ricky Sookhoo (Mariano’s manager) and Tammy Macak (Meijer manager) has allowed EPSD 124 to offer a variety of Community Education courses free of charge to Evergreen Park community members.

Mariano’s generously donated a taffy apple dipper and cake decorator for a Halloween event, sent an expert juicer to instruct a course on healthy snacks, and sent a cake decorator to demonstrate/teach those in attendance how to decorate a cake.

Meijer donated all of the food and supplies for a Make Your Own Pizza class last fall, and will do so once again for a second installment of that on April 13, 2018.

The District is thankful for the generosity of businesses within the community, which makes it possible for the District to continue offering great Community Education programming.
